Pure Morning.
1. Modeling of TPS for
IMRT(Eclipse)
We offer a total package for
the modeling and acceptance of the IMRT part of the Eclipse system: kernel optimisation, dynamic leaf motion
calculator configuration, MLC parameter derivation. The implementation is
performed on-site by specialists. No specific local equipment is mandatory.
7Sigma relies on its own 2D ion chamber array (PTW 729array) for the
measurements required for TPS configuration for IMRT. A
report on the acceptance tests and the obtained dose calculation accuracy will
be generated and discussed with the responsible physicist(s)/radiation
oncologist(s).
2. Implementation of QA protocol for dynamic MLC
A protocol for quality assurance of the dynamic MLC is proposed and
discussed with the local physicists. The protocol that has been decided upon is
implemented; all necessary test files are delivered (or created).
3. Training of local medical
physicists/dosimetrists and radiation oncologists
The performed acceptance tests, the basic characteristics of the
optimization model, the leaf motion calculator and the forward dose calculation
are discussed. A short, clinically oriented, practical training of the IMRT
tools is given; benefits and shortcomings are discussed. This compact training
does not pretend to cover the extensive information transfer provided by the
Varian IMRT School, but focuses on the most practical aspects of the use of
imrt in the clinical routine.
4. Implementation of TPS verification protocol in a phantom
For phantom measurements, simple
solid water plates are most suitable. Provided all components for stable film
dosimetry (film developer and film scanner) are available, 7Sigma assists in the
implementation of a protocol for IMRT dose verification in a phantom by means of
absolute film dosimetry. 7Sigma can provide the software tools for data
analysis. However, since stable film developers are becoming rare and film
dosimetry remains time consuming and error prone, we recommend the use of a 2D
ion chamber array for reliable on-line 2D absolute dosimetry. If such an array
is available, 7Sigma can implement the protocol for its usage with respect to
IMRT.
5. Pre-treatment verification with absolute portal imaging dosimetry
Provided a license to the Portal Dosimetry software in Eclipse has been
purchased from Varian Medical Systems, we offer the on-site implementation into
clinical routine. This includes calibration of the portal imager (aS500) in the
dosimetric acquisition modes and beam profile correction, measurement and
configuration of the basic beam data and portal imager characteristics required
for the portal dose prediction algorithm. A report on the obtained accuracy for
quality assurance will be generated and presented to the responsible
physicist(s)/radiation oncologist(s).
6. First IMRT patient treatment
As a final step in the
implementation, we assist in the planning, QA and treatment initiation of the
first IMRT patient(s).
The time required to complete implementation typically
varies between one and four weeks, depending on the number of accelerators and
treatment energies to be used for IMRT, the availability of on site equipment
and the ease of access to the treatment machine and planning system.
The total cost for the PureMorning package
covers our travel and accommodation expenses and a daily fee. The price is fixed
beforehand, based on an estimate of the number of days. For more information,
