OUR SERVICES

Our services range from on-site commissioning of new treatment units to the implementation of the most advanced treatment techniques.

7Sigma can perform the commissioning services with only very limited assistance from the on-site physics team. However, we prefer to work in close collaboration with the physicists to ensure optimal communication, knowledge and information transfer. Experience has taught us that this is more beneficial in the long term, ensuring smooth follow-up and efficient future upgrades. Except when deemed necessary or useful, all measurements are therefore also performed using the local equipment.

For the implementation of advanced treatment techniques close collaboration with the on-site team is obviously mandatory and our primary focus.

Although 7Sigma can provide services for a diversity of treatment units and treatment planning systems, we specialize primarily in the Varian solution.

The price of 7Sigma commissioning and implementation services is fixed beforehand based on the time estimate needed to successfully complete the mission.

The best interest

of the patient

is the only interest

to be considered.

Dr. William J. Mayo

Commissioning and validation of a treatment unit for the Eclipse TPS

Basic : 2 weeks for up to 4 photon energies

Extra : 1 additional week per 2 additional photon energies

1 additional week for up to 4 electron energies

1 additional week per additional, beam-matched treatment unit

The above commissioning packages require full access to the treatment unit and at least one treatment planning workstation.

Except when stated otherwise or when deemed necessary or useful by 7Sigma, all measurements are performed using the local equipment to allow future follow-up by the on-site physicists.

Although 7Sigma is happy to provide advice and assistance, the absolute dose calibration of the treatment units is never performed by 7Sigma as it is the legal responsibility of the on-site medical physicist.

Clinical implementation of IMRT/RapidArc treatments

Basic : 2 weeks

Extra : 1 additional week for extra treatment planning training sessions in case of large groups of planning dosimetrists

We focus on the technical aspects of the IMRT/RapidArc treatment technique as well as on practical training in treatment plan optimization on clinical cases. At least one real patient is prepared before our departure.

The above implementation package does not require full time access to the treatment unit, but some treatment unit availability needs to be foreseen (to be discussed) at regular intervals (to allow MLC parameter validation, comparison of the calculated and delivered dose and preparation of the quality assurance procedures for the treatment unit, adapted to the newly implemented technique).

Except when stated otherwise or when deemed necessary or useful by 7Sigma, all measurements are performed using the local equipment to allow future follow-up by the on-site physicists.

At least one treatment planning workstation should be available full time.

Clinical implementation of SRS RapidArc/HyperArc treatments

Basic : 2 weeks

We focus on the technical aspects of the stereotactic treatment technique as well as on practical training in treatment plan optimization on clinical cases. We provide a series of test patients for planning training purposes. Clinical aspects such as margins, dose prescription and constraints are discussed with the medical oncologist.

Except when stated otherwise or when deemed necessary or useful, all measurements are performed using the local equipment to allow future follow-up by the on-site physicists. 7Sigma will gladly provide practical advice with respect to the required material.

The above implementation package does not require full time access to the treatment unit, but some treatment unit availability needs to be foreseen at regular intervals (to allow MLC parameter validation, comparison of the calculated and delivered dose and preparation of the quality assurance procedures for the treatment unit, adapted to the newly implemented technique).

At least one treatment planning workstation should be available full time.

Clinical implementation of advanced breast treatments

Basic : 1-3 weeks

The time required for this service is dependent on the specific treatment technique(s) (mono-isocentric treatment, gating system, RapidArc, ...) to be implemented.

This service requires limited access to the treatment unit, but generally benefits considerably from involvement of technologists in the project.

At least one treatment planning workstation should be available full time.

Tailor-made assistance

Although specialized in the fully integrated Varian environment, 7Sigma can also provide assistance in more heterogeneous radiotherapy departments.

Configuration and validation of multi-vendor TPS/Treatment Unit/R&V combinations required tailor-made time estimates and quotes.

Assistance in other treatment implementation procedures is equally possible but also requires personalized quotes.
